Minnesota Wild to Visit Roseau on June 9th

As part of the 2008 Minnesota Wild/Wells Fargo Road Tour, representatives from the Wild will be in Roseau on Monday, June 9th. The players will be on hand at Memorial Arena from 4:00-5:00 pm for autograph session and will be be giving out door prizes to the first 200 in attendance. Hot Dogs, Chips and Coke products will be served for those in attendance. The final list of players to be in attendance should be released shortly and will be posted here when known. Aaron Ness & Team USA Capture Bronze Medal

Aaron Ness recently participated in the 2008 IIHF World Under-18 Championships held in Kazan, Russia and defeated Team Sweden 6-3 to capture the Bronze Medal.  The event was held over a two week period concluding with the victory over the Swedes on Wednesday, April 23rd

Team USA finished their pool play with a 3-1 record with their lone loss coming to Sweden 5-4, giving up the game winner in the closing seconds of regulation. Team USA defeated Germany in the quarter finals before falling to Russia in the semi-finals.  Team Canada shutout Russia 8-0 to claim the gold medal.

Ness finished the tournament with 6 points (0 goals, 6 assists) and a plus/minus rating of +5. Ness’s 6 points put him in the top 4 defensemen in scoring for the tournament.  Congratulations Aaron on a great tournament.  You represented your country and your community well.

Aaron Ness Named Mr. Hockey

Rams defensemen Aaron Ness was named 2008 Mr. Hockey Sunday at the River Centre in St. Paul. Ness becomes the first player in Roseau history to win the award.

The Mr. Hockey award which originated back in 1985 has included such winners as Warroad's Larry Olimb, George Pelawa, Tom Chorske. Roseau has had two other finalist for the award, in 1990, Rams assistant coach Bill Lund and in 1999 former Rams defensemen Derrick Byfuglien. Rams Finish Fourth at State

The Rams completed a tremendous season on a losing note Saturday afternoon with tough 5-1 loss to the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights. With the loss the Rams finish the season with a 29-2 record. The lone Ram goal in the contest came from Adam Knochenmus to tie that game at 1-1 early in the third period before four goals including three powerplay goals in the third sealed the deal for the Red Knights.

The Rams lost to eventual state champion Hill-Murray on Friday's semifinal 6-2.

The Rams Aaron Ness and Tyler Landman were named to the All-Tournament team. Congratulations to both Aaron and Tyler on these honors.

Aaron was also named the AP (Associated Press) 2008 Player of the Year.

Rams Advance to State Semi-Final

The Rams advanced to Friday evenings semi-final with an impressive 8-2 victory over Blaine Bengals at the Xcel Energy Center Thursday night. Junior forward Tyler Landman led the way for the Rams notching 4 goals along with a pair of assists. Roseau received a pair of goals from defensemen Aaron Ness and single goals from Ben Nelson and Adam Knochenmus. Mike Lee picked up his 27th win of the year finishing with 32 saves on 34 Bengal shots. The goaltending tandem of Danny Harper and Brent Hollerud finished the game with a combined 16 saves.

The Rams will now face the Hill-Murray Pioneers Friday night at 8:00 pm. The Pioneers defeated the Lakeville South 3-0 in the final quarter final game Thursday night.

Rams are Section 8AA Champs

The Rams advanced to next weeks Class AA State Tournament with a 6-1 over the Moorhead Spuds at Ralph Engelstad Arena. The Rams were led by a pair of goals by senior Ben Nelson along with single goals by Nick Oliver, Dusty Moser, Tyler Landman and Trevor George. Mike Lee who remains undefeated in his high school career between the pipes for the Rams picks up the win turning aside 20 Spud shots while Logan Marks and Coleman Wagner combined for 30 saves with Marks taking the loss.

2007-2008 Section 8AA Champions

Rams Advance to Section 8AA Championship

Roseau received two goals each from Aaron Ness, Ben Nelson and Dustin Moser to pace the Rams to a very impressive 8-0 shutout win over the #4 seed Buffalo Bison at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls on Saturday afternoon. Other goal scorers for the Rams included single tallies from Adam Knochenmus and Jason Fabian. The Rams dominated this one from the opening drop of the puck outshooting the Bison by a 51-7 margin with Ram goaltender Mike Lee picking up his 12th shutout of the season.

With the win the Rams advance to Wednesday nights Section 8AA title game and will face the Moorhead Spuds who defeated the Brainerd Warriors 4-2 in the second semi-final game of the day. Game time is set for 7 pm at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls.
